Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026. Your privacy is zero-compromise. We build SabiQuiz with transparency and security at its core.
1. Data We Collect
We collect information to provide a better service to all our users. This includes:
- Account Information: name, email address and profile picture, from Google sign-in or from the details you enter when you sign up with an email address.
- User Content: quiz topics, custom questions and game scores, stored to maintain your Quiz Bank and your leaderboard standing.
- Pictures: a picture you add to a question is kept for as long as a quiz, game or saved session uses it, and is then removed within about a week. Before it is stored, your browser shrinks it and re-saves it, which removes any camera or location information inside the file. A stored picture can be opened by anyone who has its address, which is how players see it; the address cannot be guessed.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type and device information, used for security, rate limiting and anonymised analytics.
Guests who join a game with a PIN are not asked to create an account. We keep only the nickname and the answers needed to run that game and show its leaderboard.
2. AI & Third Parties
AI quiz generation is served by one or more third-party model providers — currently Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter — in a configured failover order. When you give a topic or a URL, the relevant non-personal text is sent to whichever provider handles the request. Your name, email address and account identifiers are never included.
Files you choose. If you make a quiz from a PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) or text file, the file is opened on your own device and is never uploaded. Only the text you see in the preview and choose to use is sent to the model provider, in the same way as a topic or a URL. We do not keep the file or its text: after the questions are written, SabiQuiz stores only the quiz and the title you gave it. Please do not use confidential or personal information in a document you turn into a quiz, because that text goes to a third-party provider.
Photos of notes. If you make a quiz from a photo, the photo is the one thing that does leave your device as a picture: it is shrunk on your device, with the details a camera adds (such as where it was taken) removed, and sent to a third-party model provider so the writing in it can be read. We do not store or log the photo; it exists on our server only for the moment the request takes. The text that comes back is shown to you to check and edit, and only that text is used to write the questions. Please do not photograph confidential or personal information, or people.
Supabase hosts our database, authentication and server functions. Stripe processes payments; card details go to Stripe directly and are never seen or stored by SabiQuiz.
3. How We Use Data
Your data is used solely to:
- Personalise your dashboard and your quiz bank.
- Operate live multiplayer game lobbies.
- Process subscription payments through Stripe.
- Enforce plan limits and protect the service from abuse.
- Improve platform performance through anonymised analytics.
Game reports. When a live game you host is played to the end, SabiQuiz keeps a report for you, the host: how many people played, how each question was answered, and, for each player, the nickname they typed and their score. Nothing else about a player is kept: no email address, account or device information. Only you can read a report, and you can delete it at any time. Reports are deleted automatically after 14 days (the last 3 games only) on the Free plan and after 12 months on paid plans, and when you delete your account. Please ask players to use a nickname rather than their real name.
Assignments. When a teacher sets a quiz with a deadline, the students who open the link give a nickname, and SabiQuiz keeps that nickname and their score for the teacher who set it, with how many students chose each option on each question; a student does not need an account. The teacher is not shown what any one student chose or typed. Only that teacher can read the results, and they can delete the assignment at any time. Assignments and their results are deleted 12 months after the deadline, or when the teacher deletes their account. A student keeps their own score in their own history. Please ask students to use a nickname rather than their real name.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your quiz content to train AI models.
4. How We Measure Visits
To learn which parts of SabiQuiz people use and where they get stuck, we record simple events such as “viewed the home page” or “finished the sample quiz”. Each event is a name, a few short labels, the time, and a random code that exists only for the life of that browser tab. It is not stored in a cookie and it is gone when the tab is closed.
- An event holds no name, email address, account number or IP address.
- It records only whether the visitor was signed out, a guest, or on the Free, Educator, Pro or Team plan, so we can tell those groups apart.
- We do not record events when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
- Events are deleted after 90 days.
If you arrive through a link that says where it came from (for example a link on a results screen), we remember that for up to a week in your browser and, when you create an account, save it once on the account, so we can tell which invitations work. It is never updated afterwards, and you can ask us to remove it.
