A free Kahoot alternative with AI quizzes and live multiplayer

SabiQuiz does the part of Kahoot most people use it for: you host a quiz, everyone joins from their phone with a PIN, and the scores update live. The main difference is on the free plan: the AI will write a quiz for you (3 a day), and you can build one from a web page or a document. A free game holds 20 players, where Kahoot's free plan holds 40.

This page compares the two as honestly as we can. Where Kahoot is the better choice, it says so.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Give it a topic

Type a subject, paste a web page, or upload a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or text file. The AI writes multiple-choice questions.

  2. Step 2

    Check and edit

Every quiz lands in an editor. Fix a question, delete one, or add your own before anybody sees it.

  3. Step 3

    Host it

Share the PIN, QR code or a WhatsApp link. Players join from their own phones. No app, no account.

Where Kahoot is the better choice

Kahoot has been around for a long time, and it shows in places SabiQuiz has not caught up.

  • Its free plan holds more players in a game: 40, against 20 on ours.
  • Its paid plans are cheaper at the middle sizes: $3 a month for 50 players and $7 a month for 100, against $4.99 a month for 50 on our Educator plan and $9.99 for 100 on Pro.
  • It has a very large library of ready-made public quizzes. SabiQuiz has a few samples and writes the rest for you.
  • It supports bigger games on its top plan (800 players, against 500 on our Team plan).
  • It is widely known, so students and colleagues often already know how to use it.
  • It has years of school integrations and a mature set of classroom tools.

Where SabiQuiz fits better

  • AI quiz writing is on the free plan, 3 a day. Kahoot's plans page does not list it on its free plan.
  • Quizzes from a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or text file are on the free plan too, at about 4 pages. Kahoot lists files from its Bronze plan, for 3 pages, and importing slides from its Gold plan.
  • Free hosting needs no card, and a free account is all it takes to start.

Moving a quiz across

SabiQuiz imports questions from a spreadsheet (CSV) using its template. If you can get your questions into that sheet, you can bring them over, and you can also write the topic again and let the AI draft a fresh set.

A note on this comparison

Kahoot is a trademark of its owner, and SabiQuiz is not affiliated with it. We compare on published facts only and have left out anything we could not check against its own page.
